The device has a transferring unit (13) including a signal transformer (14) that has a primary winding (15) for receiving a primary signal (SP) representative of an input signal (SI). A switching unit (16) e.g. FET, cuts the input signal and provides the primary signal. A control unit (17) controlling the switching unit includes a control signal input that receives a control signal (SC) during switching periods and an electrically insulated output of the control signal input. The control unit is connected to the switching unit to control cutting of the primary signal during the periods. An independent claim is also included for an electrical apparatus comprising a control mechanism.
