A skate (10) including a tridimensional skate boot shell (16) with a sole insert (20, 120) embedded in or received in the skate boot shell (16) such that at least part of a thickness of the sole portion (16d) is defined under the sole insert (20, 120), and a holder (15) under the skate boot shell (16) configured for retaining a ground-engaging skate element (17). The holder (15) is connected to the sole insert (20, 120) by at least one fastener (13) extending through the at least part of the thickness of the sole portion (16d). A method of manufacturing a skate boot (12) is also discussed.
