<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for identifying a vehicle driver, that can identify the vehicle driver more reliably through studying driving operation maintaining the convenience due to the identification of the vehicle driver. <P>SOLUTION: On a vehicle 100, a database 140 is mounted, in which data indicating a feature value of driving operation by the driver are stored separately for a point in which the driving operation is carried out. An onboard control device 130 mounted on the vehicle 100 includes a driver identification processor 133 which identifies the driver by comparing the feature value of the driving operation at the point corresponding to the driver as a target to be identified with the feature value of the driving operation by the point recorded in the database 140 as a data.
