A power control device includes a main power supply (104), a use detector (111), a CPU (22) that issues an instruction to switch between a standby power mode and a normal power mode, an auxiliary power supply (109), and a transformer (115). The transformer (115) includes a primary winding (112), a secondary winding (113), and an auxiliary secondary winding (114) provided in an auxiliary power supply mode switching controller (108) including an auxiliary power supply control IC (21). In the standby power mode, the CPU (22) performs control such that commercial power supplied to the main power supply (104) is interrupted to cause the CPU(22) itself to shift to the standby power mode, and such that the auxiliary power supply control IC (21) repeats intermittent driving and stopping of the auxiliary power supply (109). Therefore, standby power can largely be reduced while an instrument is not used. |
