<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for monitoring not only the inclination of a piston but also its eccentricity regarding a dry gas-holder. <P>SOLUTION: The method for monitoring the piston of the dry gas-holder 1 including a cylindrical holder body 2, a small lid type piston 3 arranged in the holder body, and a seal mechanism 4 for a clearance between the piston and the holder body, includes providing the center position of the piston with an eccentric amount measuring table 5; providing the upper end of the holder body with distance meters 6 measuring, in a noncontact state, height direction distances to a plurality of other positions forming a polygon with one another including or not including the eccentric amount measuring table and its vicinity and its center position; determining the occurrence of eccentricity to the piston when a sudden change occurs to the height direction distances to the eccentric amount measuring table in the center position; and determining whether the piston is inclined based on the height direction distances to the plurality of positions forming the polygon, measured by the distance meters when there is no change or a moderate change in the height direction distances. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
