<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insufflating surgical instrument that moves across an abdominal wall and is suitable for insufflating an abdominal region of a patient.SOLUTION: An insufflating surgical instrument includes: a cannula that has a first wall forming a first lumen; and a trocar that can be inserted into and removed from the first lumen of this cannula. This trocar comprises: a shaft that has a second wall forming a second lumen extending between proximal and distal ends, accepts an abdominoscope to be inserted into the second lumen at the proximal end, has an insufflation path extending along the length of the shaft and has at least one shaft ventilation hole formed across the second wall; a tip section that is located at the distal end of this shaft, encapsulates the distal end of the shaft so as to prevent the surgical instrument from penetrating the distal end of the shaft and is formed of a transparent material making the abdominal wall and the abdominal region easily visible; and at least one ventilation hole that is formed at this tip section and insufflates the abdominal region by jetting a pressurized fluid.</p> |
