The present invention relates to a device and a method for voice guidance of a navigation system and, more specifically, to a device and a method for voice guidance of a navigation system, wherein an information board is photographed using a photographing device attached to a vehicle before a TBT position on a driving route, and a text on the information board is recognized and converted into voice to conduct voice guidance. The present invention is a navigation device for conducting voice guidance using images photographed by a camera at a TBT position, comprising: a GPS receiving part for receiving information on the current position of a vehicle; a user input part for receiving destination information from a user; a display part for displaying route information corresponding to the destination; a sound part for outputting the route information via voice; a camera part consisting of one or more photographing devices for photographing a direction corresponding to a driving route at the TBT position; and a control part for photographing an information board at a position corresponding to a driving direction using the camera part before the TBT position placed on the driving route, and converting a text on the information board into voice to conduct guidance. |
