PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric vibrator having excellent frequency temperature characteristics, and electromechanical coupling coefficients larger than those of a quartz, and contributive to compaction of a portable apparatus.SOLUTION: A piezoelectric vibrator 100 including a piezoelectric piece 10 consisting of a 45°-55° rotary Y plate of LiTaO, and electrodes 31, 32 for excitation formed on the piezoelectric piece, and oscillating in the bending oscillation mode is used in a portable apparatus. The 45°-55° rotary Y plate of LiTaO, having a rotation angle &thetas; of 45°-55° for the X axis has a primary temperature coefficient and a secondary temperature coefficient &bgr; close to zero, and excellent frequency temperature characteristics, and since the LiTaOhas electromechanical coupling coefficients larger than those of a quartz, a low crystal impedance value can be ensured, even if compaction is attained. |
