PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a range detection device capable of making a rapid and precise range measurement.SOLUTION: A range detection device includes; a range computation unit which computes an object distance on the basis of a first signal, corresponding to a light flux passing through a first pupil area of an exit pupil of an imaging optical system, and a second signal corresponding to a light flux passing through a second pupil area that is different from the first pupil area: and a signal processing unit which filters at least either of the first signal and second signal by using a bandpass filter having less cells in a first direction than in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction and a phase correction filter having more cells in the first direction than in the second direction.
