PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochemical device such as a lithium ion capacitor, capable of suppressing deterioration under a low voltage while enhancing output characteristics.SOLUTION: An electrochemical device includes: a positive electrode comprising a polarizable electrode containing a conductive assistant comprising a carbon material 3 having a graphite structure and lithium 2 doped in the carbon material 3; a negative electrode having a carbon material allowing lithium ions to insert and extract therein and therefrom; an ion conducting medium interposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. In the electrochemical device, a surface of the positive electrode has an oxygen concentration of 3 mol% or more in an analysis in a minute range of 50 μm or less using photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). |
