The present invention relates to a vehicle navigation method and a system thereof, wherein information on a traffic light is generated based on the stop time and start time of a vehicle at the position of the traffic light and waiting time, so the traffic light can be provided effectively based on the information on the traffic light. The vehicle navigation system according to embodiments of the present invention comprises; a server for generating information on a traffic light including information on the position of the traffic light and the stop time, start time and proceeding direction of a vehicle at the position of the traffic light; a control part for receiving the information on the traffic light from the server and detecting waiting time depending on the proceeding direction of the current vehicle based on the received information on the traffic light if the vehicle stops at the position of the traffic light; and a display part for displaying the waiting time.
