PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing carbon particulates from a lignin-containing liquid such as black liquor, the carbon particulates being suitable for a pigment dispersion; a method for producing a pigment dispersion using the carbon particulates; carbon particulates for a pigment dispersion; a pigment dispersion; and an inkjet ink.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for producing carbon particulates for pigment dispersion from a lignin-containing liquid, comprising: mixing an inorganic salt X in a lignin-containing liquid to obtain an inorganic salt mixture S1; forming droplets of the inorganic salt mixture S1 and drying the droplets to obtain inorganic salt-containing particulates; thermally decomposing the inorganic salt-containing particulates at 500°C or more to obtain thermally decomposed particulates C2; and removing the inorganic salt X from the thermally decomposed particulates C2 to obtain carbon particulates to be used as a pigment for a pigment dispersion and an inkjet ink.
