PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device capable of performing detection of a vehicle and recognition of a number plate with a single device.SOLUTION: The device comprises: a plurality of cameras which are disposed with a predetermined space therebetween to perform photographing at the same time; a distance calculation unit which calculates a distance between the cameras and a photographed object on the basis of a plurality of images photographed by the plurality of cameras to output distance information; and a vehicle number recognition unit which performs operation of recognizing characters on a number plate on the basis of at least one photographed image photographed by the plurality of cameras and having the distance in the distance information obtained by the distance calculation unit within a predetermined range to output character recognition success/failure information indicating whether the recognition succeeded or not and vehicle number information recognized when the character recognition succeeded. The vehicle number of the vehicle is determined when the vehicle number recognition unit succeeded in the recognition of the vehicle number and it is determined that the presence of the vehicle is detected. |
