PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phosphorus-containing epoxy resin containing a phosphorus atom with an amount sufficient to exhibit fire resistance applicable to an electric and electronic field, high in heat resistance and low in water absorption and a phosphorus-containing epoxy resin having moldability such as film production property, low linear expansion, extensibility, high heat conductivity, low dielectric constant, low dielectric loss tangent or the like in a good balance in addition to fire resistance, high heat resistance and low water absorption.SOLUTION: There is provided a phosphorus-containing epoxy resin which is a reaction condensate of a compound having a diphenylphosphinyl group represented by diphenylphosphinyl hydroquinone and a bivalent epoxy compound having a specific biphenol skeleton represented by tetramethyl biphenol diglycidyl ether and has a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of 1,000 to 200,000. |
