PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device employing a wall electrode IPS system, which reduces color mixing even when the screen is observed in an oblique direction.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device has the following structure: a pixel is formed between first and second wall structures WL, and in the pixel, a second electrode CE having a slit is formed on a planar first electrode SE via a first insulating layer; a liquid crystal is driven by applying a voltage between the electrodes; a color filter CF is formed between the first and second wall structures, while no color filter is formed under the first and second wall structures; a TFT and a second insulating layer covering the TFT are formed below the color filter; the TFT is connected to a contact electrode CNT via a contact hole formed in the second insulating layer; and the contact electrode extends to cover at least a part of the first or second wall structure; and the contact electrode and the first electrode are connected to each other in the wall structure. |
