PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform maintenance, such as version upgrade, of software without stopping in an information processing system comprising a plurality of systems including multi-stages and multi-layers of clusters of servers on which loads are balanced by load balancers.SOLUTION: A software updating method includes: a first step in which a server at each stage in an update object system blocks a request from a corresponding load balancer; a second step in which the server at each stage establishes a communication path to directly connect with a server at a subsequent stage; a third step in which the server at each stage updates software; a fourth step in which a server at the foremost stage cancels blocking of a request from an external load balancer; a fifth step in which the server at each stage in each system cancels blocking of a request from an internal load balancer when the first to fourth steps are finished regarding all the systems; and a sixth step in which the server at each stage in all the systems cancels the direct communication path and transmits a request to a load balancer at the subsequent stage. |
