PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel technology that can further reduce the argon purge amount in the ethylene oxide production process.SOLUTION: The ethylene oxide production method comprises: a step of feeding the ethylene oxide-containing reaction product gas produced in reaction process in an ethylene oxidation reactor (1) for catalytically gas phase-oxidizing ethylene with molecular oxygen-containing gas in the presence of silver catalyst, to an ethylene oxide absorption column (2), bringing it into contact with the absorption liquid fed to the absorption column, and feeding the column bottom liquid in the absorption column to an ethylene oxide refining system for refining; and a step of extracting the carbon dioxide gas rich absorption liquid obtained by feeding at least a portion of the carbon dioxide gas-containing gas discharged from the column top of the absorption column, to a carbon dioxide gas absorption column (7) and by bringing it into contact with an absorption liquid, as a column bottom liquid in the absorption column and feeding the liquid to a carbon dioxide gas stripping column, and discharging the liquid, as effluent gas, the carbon dioxide gas from the absorption liquid, from the column top of the stripping column, and the method is characterized in feeding, to said reactor, a pressure-increased said raw-material gas. |
