Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and a system for displaying an item for communicating with contacts stored in an electronic device. The method includes the steps of: storing use frequency of items with respect to contacts in a frequently opted communication application (FOCA) database receiving interaction events performed with respect to the contacts; identifying items for communicating with the contacts in the FOCA database; and displaying the identified items on an electronic device as a response to the interaction events performed with respect to the contacts.
