PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a container terminal and an operation method of the container terminal capable of improving the entire cargo handling efficiency by adjusting the difference of a busy state and a slack state in a plurality of storage lanes.SOLUTION: A container terminal 1 comprises a moving region 15 adjacent to an end part on an edge 2a side of a quay wall 2 in a storage region 4. Portal cranes 40A, 40B moving along storage lanes 7 comprise travel devices 45 which have rubber tires 45a rolling on the quay wall 2 and can move in a y direction and an x direction by rotating the direction of the rubber tires 45a in a horizontal direction. The portal cranes move toward the moving region 15 from one storage lane 7 in the storage region 4 via the end part on the edge 2a side of the quay wall 2 in the storage region 4, move in a direction orthogonal to a direction along the storage lane 7 in the moving region 15, and move toward the other storage lane 7 from the moving region 15 via the end part on the edge 2a side of the quay wall 2 in the storage region 4. |
