PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus configured to facilitate jam handling, while preventing split of a sheet when a sheet conveyance unit is drawn out for jam handling.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: an image forming section for forming an image on a sheet by electrophotography; and a paper passage comprising a first paper passage for conveying the sheet to the image forming section and a second paper passage connected to the first paper passage. The first and second paper passages are separated from each other at a boundary thereof, to draw out the first paper passage, for jam handling. The image forming apparatus also includes a jam detection section which detects paper jam in the paper passage, and a jam eliminating section which determines a procedure of jam handling, according to a state of the sheet on the paper passage when the paper jam occurs, and issues an instruction to perform jam handling according to the determined procedure. |
