The invention concerns a level sensor which comprises: a tube (9) of which a lower part (25) communicates with a liquid volume (3), an upper part (27) not being filled with the liquid; and a device (17) for measuring a level of the liquid surface (15) along the tube. The method comprises the following steps: placing the upper part (27) of the inner space (11) under a predetermined pressure; calculating a theoretical level (Nth) of the liquid surface (15); acquiring the level (Nmes) measured by the measuring device (17); comparing the theoretical level (Nth) with the measured level (Nmes); and repeating the steps of calculating a theoretical level (Nth), acquiring a measured level (Nmes) and comparing the theoretical and measured levels when the upper part of the inner space has been placed under at least a second predetermined pressure.
