Disclosed is a vehicle hood latch device for protecting pedestrian. The vehicle hood latch device for protecting pedestrians according to the present invention comprises: a base having a moving groove part formed thereon; a latch gear including a first hanging part which restricts a striker having entered through the moving groove part, is elastically supported in one rotating direction, and is placed above the striker placed on the moving groove part, and a second hanging part placed below the striker; a pawl installed on the base to be able to rotate, elastically supported in the same rotating direction with the rotating direction of the latch gear and restricting the rotation of the second hanging part by rotating while being pushed by the first hanging part; and a cover part installed to face the base with the latch gear and the pawl therebetween and including a guiding groove part corresponding to the moving groove part. The pawl includes: a hanging protrusion for restricting the upward movement of the first hanging part when the striker falls; and a supporting protrusion placed below the hanging protrusion and forming a spare space below the striker by restricting the downward movement of the second hanging part. |
