To increase safety and reduce environmental load in the production of a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound. An oxirane compound represented by formula (1). (In formula (1), R1 represents an optionally substituted aryl group; at least one moiety among R3-R6 moieties represents a substituent that is represented by formula (2); and each one of R3-R7 moieties other than one which represents a substituent that is represented by formula (2) independently represents an atom or a group selected from among a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1-3 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group having 1-3 carbon atoms, a hydroxyl group, an amino group, an aryl group, an ester group, an amide group and a halogen atom.
