A composite sheet production method that produces a composite sheet (7) that is for an absorbent article and that includes an elastic sheet (8) and a low-stretchability sheet (9) that has lower stretchability than the elastic sheet (8). The method includes: transporting the low-stretchability sheet (9) along a transport route; discharging ink droplets toward the low-stretchability sheet (9) that is transported along the transport route and printing an image on the surface of the low-stretchability sheet (9) at a prescribed location on the transport route; and, while the elastic sheet (8) is transported in a stretched state, joining the elastic sheet (8) to the low-stretchability sheet (9) at a location that is further downstream in the transport direction on the transport route than the prescribed location.
