COMPUTER PROGRAM PRODUCT AND APPARATUS FOR FAST LINK ADAPTATION IN A COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

<p>A transceiver configured to select channel state information for fast link adaptation in a communication system. The transceiver includes a radio frequency unit coupled to a processing apparatus and a memory. The processing apparatus is configured to generate channel and noise covariance estimates and cyclic redundancy check results based on a received data signal; generate a set of Link Quality Metric (LQM) based on the estimates; buffer the generated set of LQM; use a Gaussian Processes (GP) system model to update model parameters based on the buffered set of LQM and the set of CRC results; use the updated model parameters with the GP system model to predict a block error rate (BLER) for each CSI in a set of supported CSI based on the generated set of LQM; selecting from the set of supported CSI the CSI having a maximum throughput and the predicted BLER below a threshold.</p>
