PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can suppress generation of stripes due to a residual substance on a surface of an electrophotographic photoreceptor.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes an electrophotographic photoreceptor satisfying the following condition (1), charging means, electrostatic latent image forming means, developing means, transfer means, and cleaning means that includes a cleaning blade satisfying the following condition (2) and brings the cleaning blade into contact with from below the electrophotographic photoreceptor to remove a residual substance on the surface of the electrophotographic photoreceptor. (1) The electrophotographic photoreceptor has a charge transporting layer as a surface layer, which contains a polycarbonate copolymer having a structural unit represented by general formula (A) and a structural unit represented by general formula (B) and having a loss tangent tanδ of 0.04 or less of dynamic viscoelasticity. (2) The cleaning blade has the following contact layer on a support member: the contact layer comprises a polyurethane rubber having a hard segment including a structural unit derived from a polyester polyol, has a hardness of A82 or higher, and comes into contact with the charge transporting layer of the electrophotographic photoreceptor. |
