PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upper end fixing structure of a handrail coping in which the upper end of the handrail coping of a wooden opening staircase can be fixed on a coping joining surface easily and stably without impairing an outward appearance.SOLUTION: A handrail coping 13 includes a flat lower face 13b, and includes an upper end joining end face 13c for sandwiching and linking a convex corner 13d of an angle &thetas;' obtained by adding 90 degrees to a stair slope &thetas; from a lower face 13b. Fixing hardware 14 has an end face joining plate 15 joined to the upper end joining end face 13c of the handrail coping 13, and a fixed base 16 integrally provided in the end face joining plate 15, and having a cross-sectional shape of substantially an isosceles triangle. One slope 16b of the fixed base 16 has a concave corner 14d of the angle &thetas;'' obtained by adding 90 degrees to the stair slope &thetas;. The concave corner 14d is overlapped on the convex corner 13d, and the fixing hardware 14 is positioned and fixed on the upper end 13a of the handrail coping 13. The upper end 13a of the handrail coping 13 is fixed to a coping joining surface 18 through the fixing hardware 14. |
