PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a desalination facility capable of downsizing the facility and reducing an amount of energy required for the facility and an impact on an ecosystem.SOLUTION: A desalination facility is used for producing fresh water of a lower salt concentration than seawater using a reverse osmosis membrane. The facility includes water intake means for taking in brackish water that is installed in a brackish water region where seawater and fresh river water are mixed or at a brackish water lake, pressure raising means for raising pressure of the taken brackish water, salt concentration measuring means for measuring a salt concentration of the brackish water at a site where the water intake means is installed, and reverse osmosis membrane type desalinating means having a reverse osmosis membrane for desalinating the brackish water of which the pressure is raised by the pressure raising means. When the salt concentration of the brackish water measured by the salt concentration measuring means is lower than a predetermined value, the pressure raising means is controlled to send the brackish water to the reverse osmosis membrane type desalinating means. |
