398,330. Moulding artificial resins. KOPP, P., 3, Stubenrauchstrasse, Friedenau, Berlin. Aug. 5, 1932, No. 22076. Convention date, Dec. 22, 1931. [Class 87 (ii).] Apparatus for moulding artificial resin or artificial resincontaining mixes, of the type described in Specifications 380,824 and 380,825 is modified when producing articles of complicated contours by arranging that the complicated shape shall be imparted to the article at a point beyond the stroke of the plunger where the material has been reduced to a plastic form, thus allowing the main compression cylinder and the piston to be of simple crosssection. The Figure shows one example in which the plunger P co-operates with the mould H which is cooled at K<1> and heated at H<1>. The material is heated to plasticity before entering the zone formed by the profiling members E. These profiling members may in addition sub-divide the charge into several articles of the same or different contours. A member B adjusted by a screw is arranged to press laterally against the issuing stream to regulate the back pressure caused by the moulded column. In another construction the members E are replaced by a central core in order to form tubes. |
