PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a melting reduction method for chromium-containing oxide capable of simply calculating need melting reduction temperature according to a composition of used chromium-containing oxide, and achieving reduction of a temperature increasing agent and reduction of refractory cost by suppressing unnecessary temperature increase.SOLUTION: In a melting reduction method for melting and preparing a chromium-containing hot pig iron from chromium-containing oxide using a melting reduction furnace, mass of CrO, MgO, and FeO of the chromium-containing oxide is measured, mass X of CrOcapable of taking a spinel structure on the basis of predetermined (Formula 4) and (Formula 5) from the calculated mass of CrO, MgO, and FeO, a calculation melting reduction temperature T3 on the basis of predetermined (Formula 3) using the determined X, and a bath temperature in a melting reduction furnace is set at the calculated melting reduction temperature T3 or more and less than 1500°C. |
