PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader which can suppress deterioration of reading quality of an image by a reading section due to a flat cable.SOLUTION: A flat cable 50 includes: a first extension section 51; a curved section 53 which continues to the first extension section 51, curves so that it approaches a support body 81 and changes a direction to an other end side in an auxiliary scanning direction in a base section 10; and a second extension section 52 which continues to the curved section 53, extends to the other end side in the auxiliary scanning direction in the base section 10 and reaches an other end section 50B. An image reader 1 includes; a first holding section 110 which is arranged in a moving body 20, abuts on the side of the other end section 50B of the second extension section 52 in the flat cable 50 from the side of the base section 10 and holds the side of the other end section 50B of the second extension section 52; and a second holding section 120 which abuts on the side of the other end section 50B of the second extension section 52 in the flat cable 50 from the side of the support body 81 and sandwiches the side of the other end section 50B of the second extension section 52 with the first holding section 110. |
