PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a cured film which can form a cured film having excellent storage stability as a resin composition for forming a cured film and capable of fully satisfying general characteristics such as chemical resistance, heat resistance, transmittance and development adhesiveness and is suitable as a cured film for a display element by using the resin composition for forming a cured film.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for forming a cured film for a display element which comprises the following steps (1) to (4), wherein the contact angle of water to the cured film after the step (4) is 80° or more. (1) A step of forming a coating film on a substrate by using a cured film for a display element. (2) A step of exposing the coating film through a halftone mask. (3) A step of developing the coating film after the exposure. (4) A step of heating the developed coating film.
