The present invention relates to the field of communications. Provided are a method and a device for establishing a service path, which can implement flexible deployment of service processing devices so that only Internet protocol addresses of the service processing devices need to be known during policy configuration, thereby improving maintainability of a service chain. The method comprises: receiving a request packet generated by an originating device, the request packet comprising Internet protocol addresses of all service processing devices on a service path, a pointer indicating an Internet protocol address, and traffic classification information; determining a tunnel-in destination address and a tunnel-out destination address of a virtual private network forwarding entry to be generated according to the Internet protocol address that the pointer points to; and generating the virtual private network forwarding entry according to the tunnel-in destination address, the tunnel-out destination address, and the traffic classification information, adding 1 to the pointer, and forwarding the request packet according to an Internet protocol address that the pointer to which 1 is added points to. |
