<p>ADAPTER ASSEMBLY WITH GIMBAL FOR INTERCONNECTING ELECTROMECHANICAL SURGICAL DEVICES AND SURGICAL LOADING UNITS, AND SURGICAL SYSTEMS THEREOF An adapter assembly (200) for selectively interconnecting a surgical loading unit (300) that is configured to perform a function and a surgical device (100) that is configured to actuate the surgical loading unit (300), the surgical loading unit (300) including an axially translatable drive member, and the surgical device (100) including a plurality of rotatable drive shafts (106), the adapter assembly (200) comprising: a housing (202) configured and adapted for connection with the surgical device (100) and to be in operative communication with each rotatable drive shaft of the plurality of rotatable drive shafts (106) of the surgical device (100); an outer tube (204) having a proximal end supported by the housing (202) and a distal end configured and adapted for connection with the surgical loading unit (300), wherein the distal end of the outer tube (204) is in operative communication with the axially translatable drive member of the surgical loading unit (300), the outer tube (204) defining a longitudinal axis; and an articulation assembly (230) including a gimbal (250) supported in the outer tube (204) and a plurality of threaded sleeves (246, 248) supported in the housing (202), the plurality of threaded sleeves (246, 248) coupled to the gimbal (250) by at least one cable (260), wherein rotation of at least one of the plurality of rotatable drive shafts (106) of the surgical device (100) translates at least two of the plurality of threaded sleeves (246, 248) to omni-directionally articulate the gimbal (250) relative to the longitudinal axis of the outer tube (204) with the at least one cable (260), and wherein articulation of the gimbal (250) articulates the surgical loading unit (300) about the distal end of the outer tube (204).</p> |
