PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize compression ignition combustion at a time of natural return from a fuel cut control in a compression ignition engine.SOLUTION: A PMU 100 restarts fuel injection if the number of revolutions of an engine 10 decreases to a predetermined number during execution of fuel cut to cut off the fuel injection, executes main injection and pre-injection for injecting a smaller quantity of fuel than a quantity of fuel for the main injection at a time of restarting the engine 10, and actuates an ozone generator 30 to generate ozone in each cylinder 13 at timing of executing the pre-injection.
