PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method which can provide a carbazole compound having a tertiary amino group in high yield with suppressed formation of by-products, and which can simplify the production process.SOLUTION: The carbazole compound having a tertiary amino group is produced by using: a step of introducing a tertiary amino group into a compound comprising a 9-butoxycarbonylcarbazole structure; and a step of eliminating the butoxycarbonyl group from the compound.
