PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture display device in which rotation of a fluorescent wheel and driving of a light valve can be synchronized with each other with high precision.SOLUTION: A picture display device 100 has a light source device 12, a rotational board, a photodetector 130, a light valve 96 and a controller. When a first period is defined as a period equal to a time for which light is continuously incident to a first area, the photodetector detects the intensity of first color light emitted from a fluorescent wheel 16 in a second period contained in the first period and a third period which is contained in the first period, but not overlapped with the second period. The controller controls at least one of the fluorescent wheel and the light valve on the basis of the intensity of the first color light detected by the photodetector. |
