1. A device for monitoring the pressure of soft tissue, comprising:
a strip of material adapted for contact with a skin surface of a patient; a fiber optic strand interfaced with and distributed along the length of the strip of material, the fiber optic strand adapted to transmit light to and return light from the skin surface, to act as a pressure sensor for determining the tissue pressure at a given linear location of the fiber optic strand, and to connect to a controller that includes a light source and an interrogator that polls the fiber optic strand for pressure information.
