PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of performing liquid-surface floating culture of microalgae without newly supplying seed algae.SOLUTION: Microalgae on a bottom surface is used as seed algae. Specifically, there is provided a culture method of microalgae which includes: a first culture process in which microalgae is cultured in a culture medium inside an incubator, a biofilm is formed on a liquid surface of the culture medium, and the microalgae is maintained on a bottom surface of the incubator; a process in which at least a part of the biofilm on the liquid surface which has been formed in the first culture process is recovered, and at least a part of microalgae on the bottom surface is left inside the incubator; and a second culture process in which the left microalgae on the bottom surface is cultured in the same incubator, and a biofilm is formed on the liquid surface of the culture medium. There is also provided novel microalgae capable of forming a biofilm on a liquid surface. |
