In said liquid-crystal display device (1), a physical quantity that influences liquid-crystal response speed is detected, estimation data is selected in accordance with the detected physical quantity, and intensity values for video being displayed on a liquid-crystal display panel (22) are estimated on the basis of the selected estimation data. That is, liquid-crystal response speed, which is influenced by a given physical quantity, is taken into account when estimating intensity values for the aforementioned video. Furthermore, video processing is applied to video data on the basis of the estimated intensity values and processing data. That is, intensity values for the video being displayed on the liquid-crystal display panel (22), said intensity values being influenced by the aforementioned physical quantity, are taken into account when applying video processing to video data. As such, appropriate video processing from which an adverse influence on liquid-crystal response speed has been eliminated can be applied to the aforementioned video data, and the display quality of the abovementioned liquid-crystal display device (1) can thus be improved.
