The present invention is to provide a contents providing system and method for automatically waking-up a mobile terminal and providing contents to the mobile terminal on the basis of a transmission signal from a communication terminal by using a mutually recognizable communication protocol. The contents providing system according to the invention comprises: a communication terminal which is operated to transmit a transmission signal including an identification information through a transmission protocol; a contents server which is operated to provide contents information including at least one content corresponding to the identification information of the communication terminal; and a mobile terminal which is operated to automatically wake up when the transmission signal from the communication terminal is detected through a reception protocol, is connected in communication to the communication terminal through a communication protocol, and outputs at least one content on the basis of the detected transmission signal when the communication connection is ended. |
