The present invention relates to a message filtering method, the invention comprising the steps of: receiving an image message from a sender having a number not included in a phone number list; extracting a character string from the image message; analyzing the character string to determine at least one word; and determining whether a predetermined spam character is included in the word to perform a filtering operating before the image message is inserted into a message thread associated with the sender. Accordingly, it is possible to extract a character string from an image included in a message, so whether the message is a spam or not can be determined.
