A computer implemented method for managing a distribution of a plurality of games among a plurality of electronic gaming machines, the method including: receiving, from the plurality of electronic gaming machines, a plurality of jackpot incrementing messages, each jackpot incrementing, message from among the plurality of jackpot incrementing messages being indicative of: (i) a corresponding electronic gaming machine from among the plurality of electronic gaming machines; and(ii) time and value information for one or more wagers placed at the corresponding electronic gaming machine; processing the plurality of received jackpot incrementing messages to update a data table that stores data, the data includes: (i) identities of the plurality of electronic gaming machines;(ii), which one of plurality of games is being provided by each electronic gaming machine of the plurality of electronic gaming machines; and(iii) a cumulative value of wagers placed at each electronic gaming machine of the plurality of electronic gaming machines; analyzing the data in the data table that relates to an analysis interval time period to determine performance characteristics for each of the plurality of games during the analysis interval time period; identifying one of the plurality of games as being a most popular game during the analysis interval time period and a target machine from among the plurality of electronic gaming machines that is not currently implementing the identified most popular game; and instructing the target machine to implement the identified most popular game.
