<p>Abstract A particulate material spreader 100 removably mountable on a tray of a regular commercial vehicle such as a utility (ute). The particulate material spreader 100 comprises a primary hopper 110 and a secondary hopper 120 which are both generally funnel shaped and having an open top. The spreader 100 further includes a discharge chute 210 located to one side of the secondary hopper 120. The discharge chute 210 is funnel shaped and terminates in a discharge aperture 215. A second diversion plate 220 is positioned above the secondary hopper 120. The second diversion plate 220 is pivotable between a first (default) position at which it allows particulate material to fall into the secondary hopper 120, and a second diverting position at which it directs particulate material towards the discharge aperture 215. Particulate material in the primary hopper 110 is transferred to the secondary hopper 120 in use via a transfer means 160. An outlet valve 400 is fitted to the secondary hopper 120 at the outlet aperture 175.
