[Class 112.] A thread-waxing device of large wax capacity has a partition dividing the pot into two unequal compartments, the smaller of which and its walls being heated by a pair of electric heating elements controlled by a thermostat, and having communication with the larger one. The pot 1 may be surrounded by an outer casing 76 of aluminium to avoid loss of heat by radiation. The intermediate space may be filled with felt &c. A partition 9 with a hole 15 divides the pot into the unequal compartments 11, 13. One of the heater elements 5 is situated directly below the partition 9 and the other below the compartment 11. These elements heat up the wax in the compartment 11 very quickly as the rear wall and partition 9 are also heated. Wax flows in from the compartment 13 to replace wax used from the compartment 11. The plate 25 carries thread guides 29, 33 for carrying the thread through the hot wax in 11. Excess of wax is removed by the stripper plate 37 and stripper block 41. The pot 1 is supported on a pair of vertical rods and is brought up to the cover 21 to immerse the plate 25 which is thus pressed on to the hot base of the pot to keep the thread guides hot. The cover 25 can be swung sidewise to replenish the supply of wax. A thermostat 74 keeps the temperature of the wax between certain limits.
