<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cartridge that allows the rotation state of a detection gear to be checked. <P>SOLUTION: A developer cartridge 7 includes a detection gear 90 having a gear tooth part 93 and a chipped tooth part 94. The detection gear 90 is configured so as to be rotatable between a first position at which the gear tooth part 93 faces an agitator gear 75G and a second position at which the chipped tooth part 94 faces the agitator gear 75G. A detection protrusion 95 is located between a housing 70 and a cover body 100 at each of the first position and the second position, and detected by an optical sensor 220 of an image forming apparatus while the detection gear 90 is rotating from the first position to the second position. The cover body 100 includes a first opening 110 used by the optical sensor 220 for detecting the detection protrusion 95, and a second opening 120 provided separately from the first opening 110.
