<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focus detector capable of appropriately detecting a focus state even when luminance of a subject is low and a distance from a light source of an AF auxiliary light to the subject is long. <P>SOLUTION: The focus detector includes: illumination control means 170 which sends out an illumination command for illuminating a subject with illumination light having a predetermined periodic pattern; light-receiving means 161d which receives a pair of luminous fluxes passing through different areas of the pupil of an optical system, and outputs a pair of light-receiving signals; operating means 163 which filter-processes the pair of the light-receiving signals output from the light-receiving means 161d with the use of a differential filter, and performs an arithmetical operation for detecting a focus state of the optical system according to the pair of the filter-processed light-receiving signals; and operation control means 163 which varies an operation method of the operating means 163 according to the periodic pattern of the illumination light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
