The present invention relates to a method for controlling an air conditioner, wherein multiple indoor units, which receive refrigerant from an outdoor unit, are arranged in rooms respectively and are controlled in different manners depending on the operating pattern of each of the rooms. The present invention comprises: a trial operation step of memorizing a primary pattern item including time for reaching the stabilization of each indoor electronic expansion valve to supply refrigerant to each indoor unit while operating all multiple indoor units, and an open degree at the point of reaching stabilization; a re-operation step of adjusting the open degree of each indoor electronic expansion valve using the primary pattern item for stabilization memorized in the trial operation step, and memorizing a secondary pattern item including time for reaching the stabilization of the indoor electronic expansion valve and an open degree at the point of reaching stabilization by operating all the multiple indoor units using the adjusted open degree; and a normal operation step of determining the initial open degree of each indoor electronic expansion valve and the target overheating degree of the indoor units using the primary and secondary pattern items memorized in the trial operation step and the re-operation step, and operating each of the indoor units using the determined initial open degree and the target overheating degree. According to the present invention, all the indoor units can be stabilized more rapidly. |
