<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reliability in discrimination of character areas and dot areas from each other. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus which performs image processing on an image in which an area attribute is determined for each pixel by area discrimination of discriminating character areas and dot areas from each other comprises: a determination unit which determines whether a dot area in the image is a wrong discrimination area adjacent to at least one of the character areas within the area and having a color equal or similar to that of the adjacent character area; and an attribute correction unit which corrects the area attribute of a pixel corresponding to the dot area determined as the wrong discrimination area by the determination unit, from a dot attribute to a character attribute. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
