The socket (10) has an insert (12) flexibly connected with an outer shell (11). A connection element e.g. metal sleeve (13) or clamping ring, is inserted between the outer shell and the insert and formed from titanium, cobalt chrome or stainless steel. The insert forms a monolithic catch element. The outer shell is formed of polyethylene or ultra-high-molecular-weight (UHMW) polyethylene or reinforced plastic. The insert is formed from UHMW polyethylene or ceramics material. The outer shell has a surface (16) that is coated with particles or foams of titanium, tantalum or calcium phosphate.
